The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
